    Hey guys
nice chart but my question is: what is about an gtx 770???????

  4. schero says:

hi, i wantetd to check out some configs on my machine
    got a quadro 4000, tesla C2075 and a gtx 580 –
i downloaded the afx file – opened it but the little robot didn´t show up as it should??? what happened – afx didn´t complain about any missing files / plugs..??? thanks

    • Tio says:

worked for me. make sure you have raytrace on. top right corner of the monitor window.

    • rendernyc says:

have you tried using raytracing? are you sure its working on your machine?

      • schero says:

hi, i´m using a hackintosh (just started to set it up…)
i unplugged the gtx 580 – this migth have caused the trouble – the little robot is showing now `))
question – when i render the comp (i left it untouched) it will use gpu and cpu – both together because i see the cpu full on at the activity monitor..??

        • rendernyc says:

          CPU use should be low.
Make sure that in prefs->previews-> GPU Information, raytracing is set to GPU

if it doesnt show up you havent added the card to the txt file yet for AE to see it.

this wont be necessary in 12.1

          • schero says:

what you mean with 12.1 ? know the little robot is appearing at the beginning but as it moves forward the screen turns black and just the red squares of the shapes are displayed.. ?? i don´t know windows – hopefully i can install afx and have a try there..

          • rendernyc says:

AE ver 12.1 is should be available to CC subscribers sometime in OCT 2013.
In the prefs will be a checkbox to allow unsupported nvidia cards as long as they have at least a gig of vram i believe

          • schero says:

ok i got afx 11 – might be a point? i will try to install afx on win and give it a try there.. in the meanwhile thanks for you help `))

        • schero says:

sorry stupid – through tryouts i was switching to cpu – so forget about the acitvity monitor on full power `)
as i go on gpu again – raytracing seems not to work.. strange because both grafic cards show up in the prefs – preview windows (even the gtx 580 which i wrote into the afx – contents)??? any suggestions? thanxs

      @ Curtis
How did u managed to get RayTracing working with GTX980 ? I just bought a GTX970 and tested it with Trial AE CC ver. 13.5 and gives me errors. The RT engine won´t work, saddly. I tried to update driver, CUDA driver, aldo added my card to the supported card in the .txt file inside AE and checked the “Enable Untested ..” in Preferences.
      Tnx for ur answer.

      • Curtis Ling says:

Adobe actually didn’t update the Core Drivers for ray tracing for Maxwell and Pascal Cards. I can’t speak for pascal but I got around it by updating the Optix dll with a newer one from nvidia (you have to join a developers thing to get it). It does break CPU ray tracing and I havn’t tested all the features yet.
also if you’re wondering why I took so long to reply
its because I JUST GOT THE EMAIL notification for it

        • rendernyc says:

How about the new gtx960, 970 and 980?
How do they perform since these three cards are currently not on the official list of supported GPUs for the ray-traced 3D renderer?
And are there any noticeable drops in performance due to the vram issues of the gtx970?

Sry for my bad englando, it’s not my native language. Thanks for your work here!

    • Curtis Ling says:

You need to patch the optix before you can benchmark them. and i only did the 850m

    • dmitri says:

I have a 980TI, and using macOS Sierra 10.12.3, and CS6 I could not get raytracing to work yet…. it may work with CC but I do not have that version…. Fast draft works. hardware acceleration for interface works…. the card is recognized, but no raytracing.
funny enough, the machine is such a beast, it renders the test comp in 10:30 WITHOUT a GPU acceleration….
